Here are some photos from some of our off-road adventure rides in the UAE. I wish I could take the camera more often but stopping to shoot photographs while riding is a bummer. Also, carrying a DSLR while riding is also a big inconvenience.

I ride with a bunch of excellent riders who have immense experience in off-road riding and long distance touring. I’m the youngest and the most inexperienced rider of the group and every time we head out I learn something more. We aren’t a club but more of group that consists of like minded individuals.

Most of us ride the BMW R1200GS but there are other dual-sport motorcycles in our group too. We assemble at the petrol station near International City (Dragon Mart) and head towards the hills.

If you like the terrain you see in these photos and want to ride with us, please get in touch with me or just show up at the petrol station around 5am on Fridays.

  1. Hi Martin,

I love those roads. I am new to UAE. I have been attending classes to get my license, Im sure Id get it soon. I see that most of the photos have a BMW GS1200. I love the bike, but its way above my ability to spend. Yamaha Super Tenere ES comes well within my spending ability. I wanted to know if any of your co-riders own one. And how is the bike on performance and maintenance.

    Thanks much!
    Regards,
    Daine DSouza

    • Hello Daine, I haven’t seen many Yamaha Super Teneres on the road. They are much cheaper when bought new as compared to a R1200GS. Why not look at a good used R1200GS. The support is better for BMW compared to Yamaha.

  2. Hi Martin,

I drive a F800GS and am quite new to driving here in the UAE. Do you drive every Friday? Would it be possible to join you guys one Friday?

    Regards

    Mikael

    • Hey Mikael,

We try to ride off-road every Friday but sometimes our friends with road-bikes show up and we stick to the road. We will surely be riding offroad a few more times this winter. Why don’t you message me your number on martin@motorcycleuae.com. I’ll message you when we head off-road next.

      Thanks

  3. Hi there ! You guys are clearly having a blast. I am new to riding in the UAE. I have a BMW 1200GSA ’12 and would love to ride with you if possible and discover some of the unbeaten tracks of the UAE especially that the temps is starting to cool off.
Please drop me a line when you get a moment.
In all cases please keep posting your adventures.
    Thanks
    Samir
